ELECTION NEWS! March 6, 2012 PPP/ County Rep. Primary Petitions - Prospective candidate's for Assessor of Property, & 2nd District County Commissioner (unexpired term) can begin picking up their nominating petitions on September 9th.  Only the  Republican Party has asked for  a primary to be held along with the PPP.   The Democrat Party will not have a county primary.  Democrat candidates can qualify by Caucus.  Anyone wishing to run for Assessor of Property or 2nd District County Commissioner should contact the Democrat Party Chairman of Grainger Co. of their intention. Qualifying Deadline - Thursday, December 8, 2011 @ 12:00 noon.  Deadline will be the same for Primary, Independent, and Caucus nominees. REGISTRATION DEADLINE The deadline to register in person to vote for the March 6th election is February 6th.  Voter registration forms (by-mail forms) postmarked this date will be processed.  A by-mail registration form lacking a postmark, but signed and dated on or before February 5th shall be timely filed if the election commission receives the form by mail by February 8th.  BOUNDARY CHANGE FOR 2ND DISTRICT  Click Here County Commission made some changes in district boundary lines in the 2nd & 3rd districts during the 2011 redistricting process.  The 2nd district will use the new lines for the unexpired term for County Commissioner in the March 6, 2012 Republican County Primary.  The Election Commission made some changes in the precinct line in the 4th district. District Boundary Line Changes in the 3rd district & precinct changes in the 4th District will not be implemented after the March 6, 2012 Elections.
